The DisAbility Services Program provides an exciting and wide range of recreational activities for young people and adults with special needs. We are looking for volunteers to assist us with camps, day trips, Stepping Out and Interchange.  Our Out and About programs and Wilderness Alive program, both Senior and Junior, offer people with special needs a variety of adventure weekends and day trips that take them to a range of places throughout Gippsland.  Adventures include camping, horse riding, canoeing, movie and dinner and go karts. Clients in the Stepping Out Program are matched with their own mentor (a volunteer) and use their hours doing creative respite, like water aerobics and karate.  Volunteering in the Interchange program involves matching you with a child with special needs for a weekend or overnight. UnitingCare Gippsland is a quality accredited community service agency.  Staff and volunteers provide a range of community services in Gippsland for children, young people, families and individuals.  The agency has a vision of a healthy Gippsland, where disadvantage and inequity are challenged.

Early Childhood Educator

 The Early Childhood Educator will be responsible, in consultation with the Assistant Coordinator/Coordinator for the planning, organisation and implementation of Children’s programs in accordance with The Early Years Learning Framework.  This position provides leadership, direction and support to immediate co-workers and the development of a highly valued ‘working together’ culture which is integral to the centre philosophy.

In addition to the daily care and support of children, Early Childhood Educators will be required to implement a program that is responsive to children needs, interests and abilities.  A holistic approach to program planning which values diverse learning experiences and embraces individual learning styles is essential.  Play based learning will form the foundation of the program with opportunities for intentional and self-directed learning.  Critical reflection of the program is essential to this position and the role requires that all team members are positively supported to participate in the reflection process

 To be successful for this position you must have;

  1. Satisfactory National police check and Victorian Working with Children Check.
  2. Post-secondary qualifications in Early Childhood Services (Diploma or equivalent)
  3. Current First aid /Certificate in Anaphylaxis and Asthma management
  4. Sound knowledge of the National and Victorian Early Years Learning Frameworks
