The Disability Team are seeking to increase their pool of casual staff and are keen to hear from suitably qualified (minimum Cert.IV in Disability or related service) and experienced people who are committed to enabling individuals with a disability to take part in our activities, have fun and be included in their community.

The DisAbility Services Program provides an exciting and wide range of recreational activities for young people and adults with special needs. We are looking for volunteers to assist us with camps, day trips, Stepping Out and Interchange.  Our Out and About programs and Wilderness Alive program, both Senior and Junior, offer people with special needs a variety of adventure weekends and day trips that take them to a range of places throughout Gippsland.  Adventures include camping, horse riding, canoeing, movie and dinner and go karts. Clients in the Stepping Out Program are matched with their own mentor (a volunteer) and use their hours doing creative respite, like water aerobics and karate.  Volunteering in the Interchange program involves matching you with a child with special needs for a weekend or overnight. UnitingCare Gippsland is a quality accredited community service agency.  Staff and volunteers provide a range of community services in Gippsland for children, young people, families and individuals.  The agency has a vision of a healthy Gippsland, where disadvantage and inequity are challenged.

Uniting are seeking Bachelor, Diploma and Cert III qualified staff to relieve in their Kindergartens.

About the opportunity

BEST START is a prevention and early intervention project that aims to improve the health, development, learning and well-being of all Victorian Children from pregnancy through transition to school (8yrs). This will be achieved by supporting communities, parents and service providers to improve universal local services so that they are more responsive to local needs.

BEST START is based on the principles of reducing the impact of disadvantage, from any cause, and enhancing the life chances of all by strengthening the universal, preventative system and making it more robust and effective. Active local community involvement in the design, use and evaluation of these services underpins the project.

  Note:  Employment is 38 hours per fortnight or 19 hours per week for 2018 and then moving to full time in 2019

 About you


Tertiary qualifications in community development, social services, early years or equivalent. Postgraduate qualifications in these would be viewed favorably.

National Police check and Victorian Working with Children Check.


Demonstrated leadership capacity and networking skills.

Ability to develop creative solutions to issues that arise within the community or workplace.

Substantial project management experience.

Ability to gather, analyse, interpret and present data.

Knowledge of child development

Excellent communication skills and ability to relate positively to a large range of people from diverse backgrounds.

Demonstrated ability to participate in a multi-skilling learning environment and a self-managing team.

Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to issues that arise within the community or workplace using community development principles.
